Should I try to be friends or something more?

if you like him then make sure to not dig yourselves into a deeper friendship...then he might think that your relationship is a just-friends thing, and if it's a really strong friendship won't want to ruin it. but you definately don't want to purposefully steal him if he's taken. so i'd say that yall should hang out, keep up your flirty habits with him (so you always keep him curious..but not overly flirty, you don't wanna seem desperate), and my guess, from what you said, is that he'll just come running to you. he obviously likes you so if you have his attention and keep flirting here and there, he'll realize how much he's attracted to you and how the other girl just isn't right for him. if he doesn't take the hints you could maybe drop something to him that makes him realize or at least think about what is between you. anyways good luck!!!
